If you recall from my last post, Turquoise is one of the oldest stones known to man. There are superstitions and myths galore surrounding Turquoise, and archeological evidence has shown that people have been using Turquoise as art and adornment since 5000 BC!
The name itself comes from a 17th century French expression “pierre tourques” which translates to “Turkish Stone”, being that the stone was originally brought over to Europe from Turkey.
Throughout history, Turquoise has been thought of as a sacred talisman and holy stone. It is one of the official birthstones for December babies, and the planetary stone for Aquarius (which might explain why I love it so much), Sagittarius, and Taurus.
Turquoise is thought to have many healing and metaphysical properties. It is most closely associated with the Throat/5th Chakra, which is the Chakra of creativity, communication, and self-expression.
There is a myriad of information on the healing properties of Turquoise. So much, in fact, that it was difficult for me to narrow it down concisely for you. Below are the most common benefits.
Wearing or carrying turquoise can aid in communication: telling the truth, helping with shyness, and helping one to feel calm and relaxed while public speaking. It can also act as a healing stone, soothing the mind, increasing confidence, helping dissolve self-sabotage and for grounding. Some say it can also help you become more in tune with the spiritual realm. Others say it can bestow wealth and promote marital happiness. Bottom line...I know how Turquoise makes ME feel (which is confident and happy), and as with any stone or crystal, you will discover what each one does for you personally.
